Coachella is music, camping and good times in California, as everybody knows. But it’s about much more than that isn’t it? Coachella encourages style and flair like no other festival, ensuring that fashionistas and bloggers flock to the desert site over both weekends.
For 2015 the mood was resolutely casual. Sylvia Haghjoo wrote her blog name of Hug-You on a denim jacket, and teamed it with a white mini and block-heeled gladiator sandals. Later she was spotted in a long-sleeved flimsy peasant blouse, while Rocky Barnes rocked cut-off shorts with an ethnic tank top.
The other look was what the Los Angeles Times termed flash tattoos, white outfits and chunky silver. Italy’s Chiara Ferragni of Blonde Salad worked this in a snowy tee under a vest tiered with short fringes. With a nod to the festival’s roots, she then flaunted an awesome Ramones t-shirt with green and blue metal embellishments. Meanwhile, Racqeul Natasha styled an ivory jumpsuit with brown ankle boots and sunglasses.
Well-known bloggers Aimee Song and sister Dani stalked the poolside, with Aimee settling for a floral and geometric skirt below a pale bra top, offset by royal blue heels and crowned by a flower band. Pool outfit for Trop Rouge was a black one-piece swimsuit with cut-outs, while her friend NYC blogger Flashes of Style went boho in a flowered blouse and ripped jeans.
Danielle Bernstein looked good in a long-sleeved front-tied mustard crop paired with pale jeans and a tan vintage belt, but it was her brown and white print front-buttoning maxi dress-cum-kimono that stole the show. Not that we’d expect anything less from the blogger and founder of WeWoreWhat, of course.
The Chinese-Italian roots of Toronto-based Kayla Seah from Not Your Standard mean that she lives up to her blog’s name, and she didn’t disappoint at Coachella this year. Her favourite outfit – and we’re not arguing – featured a stunning striped bustier and denim cut-offs, with a white leather jacket and chunky sandals, finished by a fringed bag and lots of that clunky jewellery that so grabbed the LA Times.
Le Blog de Betty saw its author working a grey t-shirt and signature sunnies with impeccable and effortless French chic. That’s what Coachella is all about, we believe. It welcomes everyone from A-listers to music fans but gives centre-stage to street style, thus making sure it’s not only the music that’s rocking.
